Message from Frontline #GivingTuesdayNow

Dear Chelsea & Eimee,

Ordinarily, May 5th would be like any other day in May—we might be enjoying some beautiful spring weather or preparing for Mother’s Day festivities. But this year, May 5th is Giving Tuesday Now, a day of global philanthropy in response to COVID-19.

Thanks to the swift and generous response from you and others, our hospital can dedicate our Giving Tuesday Now to thanking our family of supporters. When we most needed our community to rally around us, you didn’t hesitate to support us. You responded and helped to ensure that our staff were well prepared.

As infectious disease Dr. Erin Dizon put it: “Your generosity reminds me that there’s always time and space for kindness and caring for one another.”

I wanted to share this short message of gratitude with you from some of our staff on the front lines.

We can’t thank you enough.

And there’s good news too! One of our first patients to be hospitalized from COVID-19 was recently removed from a ventilator after more than two weeks. The first words out of his mouth to nurses when he came out of his medically induced coma: “You saved my life.” You can read the full story here.

We continue to face many unknowns ahead, but stories like this and your support give me so much hope.

Thank you again for your support.

With gratitude,

Lisa Baxter
